I am sitting on the bus freezing and debating whether I should take a shower (which would be a good idea after sweating profusely on stage tonight in Regina) or just go to bed. The show was good tonight. Small venue. Lots of love. We had some technical issues but hopefully you all didn’t notice. We have a few more headlining shows left before the Project Revolution Tour begins. It has been so cool to do this string of headlining dates.

Unfortunately we had to cancel tonight’s show in Victoria. We were not able to get our gear into the club and no matter how we tried to reconfigure the gear, it just wouldn’t have worked. We hate not being able to play, and moreover that we might have inconvenienced our friends that wanted to come out to see us. We hope to get back into Victoria into a larger venue and see you all then. We are truly sorry, but it was beyond our control.

Thanks to everyone (Fluid, you guys promoted the hell out of that show!) in Portland, OR who came to the show last night. Crowd was very energetic and made the show a lot of fun for us up on stage. And a very special thanks goes out to the bar/diner (name withheld) we went to afterward that made us all wait for like an hour and a half just to get a burger. That was rad!

Hey everyone. So our break is almost over. After spending some time off with our friends and loved ones, it’s time to get back to where we need to be: on the stage. We have many headlining shows coming up (alongside our good friends Dead Ponies starting in Santa Barbara,CA) and of course Projekt Revolution which starts in Boston in mid-july.

It was great meeting and performing for all of you last month and I can’t wait to see you out there! We will once again do our best to come and say hello at every show so don’t be shy ;)

Billy posted a new blog on myspace this afternoon…

Vacation, lyrics and singles

I am officially on vacation for the first time in a long time. I fly back to LA to rehearse with the boys in a week. Then it’s off to Santa Barbara for a show. We head north after stopping off in Vegas and…oh, you get the idea, go read the tour dates.

I just put up the lyrics for the three songs that are up (Sword, Enemies and The Stone). I will post more later on.

It is time to release another single to radio (and maybe a video?). What would your vote be for…
a) the new single
b) another song up on this myspace page?

Billy posted a blog update on this past Saturday from Kansas City

Greetings from KC

As I sit here in the bus, still sweating from the festival show in Kansas City, I am feeling frantic and shaky. Mostly because I have a “Smiths” and “Slayer” iTunes play list going. The show was good today. We played at 2PM which is quite un-atmospheric–rock friendly but there is something special about sweating it out in the middle of the day. For one, we get to see all of you. It really does make the show to see so many of you getting into it. And for a new band like us, just letting the material sink in is what is all about at this stage of our very young 1 month touring career. So winning over a crowd of people that had no idea you existed is pretty awesome.
We have one more show tomorrow in St. Louis before our two week break. We start back up on our west coast club run in Santa Barbara on June 24th. All of you in the LA area, this will be the closest headlining show that will do for awhile. These little club show are fun, intimate and special moments in time for us. Getting to meet all of you after the show has been pretty cool. This why I got into this whole music thing in the first place, to have my music touch people the way so many musicians have inspired me. Thanks for the support and we will see you all out and about soon.

Keyboardist Adam Monroe updated the official blog yet again

Sitting here in a hotel room in St. Paul MN and we have a couple days to wind down, the longest break since the beginning of the tour. We’ve been going strong with 5-6 shows a week for the last month so it feels strange to have so much time to kill…Been catching up on reading, playing a lot of Xbox, and hanging out at the hotel bar downstairs. There was this dude that busted out a brilliant ass shaking version of George Micheal’s “Too Funky” on the Karaoke machine last night that blew my freaking mind, like wedding singer style…Wish I could have video taped it. And BTW Junk, I’m still a little bitter about losing at Buckhunter…rematch tonight so you better bring your “A” game!!!
Catch you all later

Billy updated his myspace blog tonight with his top 5 records of all time…

I grew up in a small town in New Jersey called West Milford. Although we were 45 minutes from NYC, we lacked the entertainment infrastructure that gives awareness of music outside the typical FM rock radio of the day. When I was in high school, in the pre-internet age, it was a special moment to find interesting music and like minded fans of similar music. When I was really young, a guy named Tommy Rogers turned me on to many of the bands on this list. He had great taste and indirectly taught me not to be afraid to break the mold. These records became a world of their own inside my head and they’re still alive for me even today. When I began to write music, one of my goals was to touch people the way these records reached me. They became the sound track to my life.

Siouxsie and the Banshees - Tinderbox

-Beautiful and scary….what a great Dark Wave record should be. There are parts of this record that I have gone to time and again as a well of inspiration. They weren’t afraid to break the production mold without going too far and ruining the overall vibe just to be arty. This record sounds like a sharp, shiny shard of steel to me.

Adam & the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier

-Takes me back to being a child. In my opinion, this record was cutting edge in the 80’s, 90’s and the 00’s. I can’t think of another record like that. The sounds and the balls it took to make this record when nothing else sounded like it, marks it’s place on my top 5 favorite records.

Elvis Costello - My Aim is True

-Elvis Costello is one of my all time favorite artists. It was very difficult to pick one record of his but this one, his first record, was a fixture of my musical upbringing. For some, his voice is a dagger through the head. For me, it is gritty and powerful without being pretentious. As for song writing, he has given the courage to, when in a rut, “write songs on a left handed fretless bass upside down, in the dark.” I have used that ideal many times.

The Cure - Seventeen Seconds

There are four Cure records that are very important to me as a musician including Japanese Whispers, Pornography, Head on the Door and this one. This was a tough band to just pick one record from. At Seventeen Seconds (and Faith), The Cure grew into a band that made me look at the world differently. It was an undercurrent of mood that seamed ancient, like it was always there but I just stumbled upon it. I had no access to the scene that surrounded this band, only the personal effect it had on me. A record to listen to by yourself and TAKE IN.

Side note: In high school, I was asked to take a class survey and find the student body’s top ten favorite records. I inserted this record as 10 which was preposterous as the other records of the day were Bryan Adams, Def Leppard and such. I was obviously discovered. Sorry about that.

Cat Power - You Are Free

-Such a hauntingly beautiful record. Honest and rough in the most delicate way. I find myself singing these songs and believing the words to stories that are so personal and relevant only to Chan. This record has driven me musically for 5 years now.
